Fireman Working
This is a scene of firefighters working. It is an old firetruck known as a Tiller Truck. They had two drivers. The driver in the front was called the “Engineer” and the driver in the back was called the “Tillerman.” They worked in tandem to maneuver the huge vehicle. Before this a lot of my paintings didn’t have many people in them or at least up close. I wanted to work on my figure painting. There were times of this painting I felt I bit off more than I could chew. But I pushed through to finish it. It’s a piece that means a lot to me. It makes me think of my late grandmother. When I was a child, she always had stories to tell how people stood back and appreciated people doing public service.
